Good Mood Food!
Research shows that foods which contain Tyrosine (an amino acid that helps produce epinephrine and dopamine in your brain) are key in maintaining and even elevating your mood, as well as suppress excessive appetite. By making healthier changes to your diet you can feel the benefits in many areas of your life including decreased anxiety and depression plus weight loss resulting in better appearance – great for body and mind.
Alkaline foods that contain tyrosine include almonds, broad beans, lima beans, fava beans, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds and oils. Fermented soya (miso) is an excellent source of tyrosine and can be used in stews, soups and home made sauces. Avocados contain tyrosine as well as having a number of other beneficial nutritional qualities.
This dish is simply pear with ½ cup of chopped almonds, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, corganic creamed coconut (about 15-20g) and 2 teaspoons of pumpkin seed butter. The flesh of the pear has been scooped out and mixed in with the nuts, seeds, coconut and butter.
This dish is definitely up there on the good mood scale! It’s also low GI – allowing a slow release of energy to the body so no energy slumps, a satisfied tummy and a healthy digestive track. Also a great pre-exercise snack!
